15 Injured in Knife and Chemical Attack at Tyre Factory in Japan
Fifteen people were injured following a knife and bleach attack at the Yokohama Rubber Co. Mishima Plant in Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture, west of Tokyo. During the incident, eight individuals were stabbed with a knife, while seven others were injured by bleach that was thrown. All victims were transported to hospitals, with five of the stabbing victims reported to be in serious condition.
A 38-year-old man, believed to be a former employee of the factory, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Investigators noted that the attacker was carrying a survival knife and wearing a gas mask at the time of the assault. The incident took place on Saturday, 27 December 2025. The motive behind the attack remains unknown as the investigation continues, with statements made by police and the fire department.
