2025's Biggest Crypto Airdrops Paid Over $4.5 Billion at Peak, Marking a Decline from 2024
The top five crypto airdrops in 2025 collectively paid users over $4.5 billion at their peak values, representing a significant decrease compared to approximately $19 billion in 2024. The year featured fewer high-profile airdrops, with notable projects and their token distributions outlined below.
Story Protocol launched its layer-1 network and IP token in February 2025, airdropping about 100 million IP tokens, which was roughly 10% of the total supply, to early users. These tokens reached a peak value of over $1.4 billion in September, later valuing around $1.71 billion in December, reflecting an approximate 89% decline from its all-time high. Story Protocol raised $80 million during 2024.
Berachain also launched in February, distributing approximately 79 million BERA tokens. The tokens peaked in value at more than $1.17 billion, with an all-time high price of $14.83. By December, the price had dropped to about $0.67. The project raised $100 million prior to launch.
Jupiter (JUP), operating on Solana, rewarded 700 million JUP tokens. These tokens reached a peak value near $791 million on January 27, trading at $1.13 each, with a 2024 all-time high price of $2. The DAO has approved an additional 700 million tokens for release in January 2026. By December, the tokens were valued around $133 million, at approximately $0.19 each.
Animecoin (ANIME) airdropped 39.5% of its supply, about 3.95 billion tokens, to holders in the Azuki ecosystem. These tokens peaked at a value near $711 million, with an all-time high price of approximately $0.18. By December, token prices dropped to about $0.006. The Azuki NFT floor price briefly surged to $41,505 on January 13.
Linea allocated 9.36 billion LINEA tokens to roughly 750,000 addresses, including 7.2 billion to early contributors and 2.1 billion to others. The tokens peaked at approximately $437 million, with an all-time high price of $0.046 and a December price near $0.0067. Notably, 75% of Linea's supply remains reserved for future participants. Other honorable mentions include KAITO, which allocated 12% of its supply to airdrops and peaked at over $345 million with an all-time high price of $2.88, currently priced at about $0.54; MON, distributing 3.3 billion tokens with a peak around $162 million; and MET, with 150 million tokens peaking near $103 million.
