Anthony Joshua was discharged from hospital in Nigeria days after a fatal car crash that killed two of his close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif "Latz" Ayodele.

The crash occurred on a major expressway in Ogun State near Lagos, where Joshua was a passenger in a Lexus SUV that collided with a stationary truck.

Authorities in Ogun and Lagos states have said Joshua is fit to recuperate at home and described him as heavy-hearted over the loss.

After leaving hospital on Wednesday, Joshua visited the funeral home where the bodies of Ghami and Ayodele were being prepared for repatriation.

Sina Ghami was Joshua's full-time sport and exercise rehabilitation coach, a role he had held for more than 10 years.

Police investigations into the crash are ongoing and discreet; preliminary TRACE findings suggested the vehicle's tyre burst before hitting the truck.

Joshua was on holiday in Nigeria after beating Jake Paul in Miami on December 19. He was born in Watford to Nigerian parents.

Tributes have been paid by figures including Eddie Hearn on Instagram, and fellow boxers Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.
