Anthony Joshua Injured in Car Crash in Nigeria, Two Passengers Killed
Anthony Joshua was involved in a car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu in Ogun State, Nigeria. He was travelling in the back seat of a black Lexus when the vehicle collided with a stationary red Sinotruck after reportedly traveling above the speed limit and overtaking other vehicles. The crash occurred around midday local time (approximately 11:00 UK time), about 30 miles from Lagos.
Two male passengers, identified as foreign nationals, died at the scene and their bodies were taken to Livewell Hospital Morgue in Sagamu. Joshua sustained minor injuries and was transported to an undisclosed hospital where he is receiving treatment. Police confirmed the fatalities and injuries and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
Among the five adult males involved in the crash, two were killed, one injured (including Joshua), and two escaped unharmed. Ogun State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo provided updates on the incident but did not disclose further details about Joshua's condition.
The incident comes shortly after Joshua's recent victory over Jake Paul in Miami on 19 December 2025. He was on holiday in Africa, and discussions about a potential Tyson Fury bout in 2026 had been ongoing.
