Anthony Joshua Injured in Fatal Car Crash in Nigeria
Two of Anthony Joshua's close associates, strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami and trainer Kevin 'Lateef' Ayodele, died in a car crash in Nigeria. Joshua sustained minor injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital for checks, with his condition described as stable.
The crash occurred around 11:00 local time on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun state near Sagamu. The vehicle, a Lexus SUV carrying five adult males, hit a stationary truck. Ogun state police confirmed that two passengers died at the scene, the driver was injured, and the incident is under investigation. The Federal Road Safety Corps indicated preliminary findings suggest excessive speed and overtaking as contributing factors. The deceased were taken to Livewell hospital morgue in Sagamu.
Matchroom chairman Eddie Hearn paid tribute to Ghami and Ayodele, while Nigerian President Bola Tinubu offered condolences and wished Joshua a speedy recovery. Joshua had recently fought Jake Paul on 20 December and was expected to compete against Tyson Fury next year.
