Anthony Joshua Issues First Public Update After Fatal Car Crash in Nigeria
Two members of Anthony Joshua's team, Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach, and Latif Ayodele (Latz), a trainer, tragically died in a car crash near Lagos, Nigeria. The vehicle they were traveling in struck a stationary truck on a major road near Lagos.
Joshua sustained injuries in the crash, was treated in hospital, and subsequently discharged. He was flown back to the UK ahead of the funerals for Ghami and Ayodele.
The driver of the car, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, who had Joshua as a passenger, has been charged over the crash at Sagamu magistrates court, according to Ogun state police.
Joshua has shared his first public update on Instagram following the accident, posting a photo with his mother and three women accompanied by the caption "My Brother's Keeper." The incident occurred while Joshua was holidaying in Nigeria after his December victory over Jake Paul in Miami.
