Anthony Joshua Stops Jake Paul in Sixth Round in Miami Heavyweight Bout
In a heavyweight boxing match held in Miami on Friday night, Anthony Joshua stopped Jake Paul in the sixth round with a right hand that fractured Paul's jaw in two places. Prior to the stoppage, Paul had been knocked down four times and was unable to beat the count. Joshua's performance was tentative and crude, landing fewer than a third of his punches, missing 98 of 146 attempts.
Paul's poor conditioning was a key factor, as fatigue caused him to lose the energy needed to maintain movement throughout the fight. Referee Christopher Young publicly criticized the bout's quality, stating that fans did not pay to see "this crap."
After the fight, Joshua acknowledged that his showing was not his best, citing a 15-month layoff, and indicated plans for a 2026 schedule including a fight with Tyson Fury. Oleksandr Usyk remains the heavyweight champion, while rising talent Moses Itauma, soon to turn 21, is highlighted as a future challenger who could shape the division.
Post-fight, Paul shared an X-ray displaying his double jaw fracture and teased potential future high-profile opponents. Both fighters earned more than $50 million from the Miami bout.
