Antoine Semenyo Emerges as January Transfer Target for Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City
Antoine Semenyo has scored his seventh Premier League goal this season for Bournemouth during their 4-4 draw with Manchester United. With the January transfer window approaching, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United are all competing to sign the Ghanaian forward.
Semenyo reportedly prefers a move to Liverpool, with Manchester City as his secondary option. Manchester United would need to make a compelling case to persuade him otherwise. Tottenham have also expressed interest but are considered unlikely to secure his signature.
The player’s release clause is understood to be just under £65 million, which includes loyalty payments and agent fees, and must be activated early next month. Liverpool manager Arne Slot views Semenyo as a possible successor to Mohamed Salah. Meanwhile, City have contacted Semenyo and his representatives, although the future of their manager Pep Guardiola beyond 2027 remains uncertain.
Bournemouth coach Ruben Amorim, who expressed interest last summer, envisions Semenyo playing as a left wing-back or a No 10. This tactical deployment is partly influenced by the absence of players like Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo, who are competing at the Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament Ghana did not qualify for.
In the Premier League standings, Manchester United occupy sixth place, just ahead of Liverpool, while Manchester City sit second, two points behind league leaders Arsenal. United's next fixture is against Aston Villa.
