Arne Slot has criticized Micky van de Ven's challenge on Alexander Isak as reckless following Liverpool's 2-1 victory at Tottenham on Saturday. During the match, Isak, Liverpool's record signing valued at £125 million, suffered a fractured fibula and ankle injury caused by the tackle, which trapped his left leg.
Isak underwent surgery on the Monday following the match, and the procedure was reported to have gone well. However, Slot announced that Isak would be sidelined for a couple of months due to the severity of the injury.
Slot further compared Van de Ven's tackle unfavorably to a recent challenge by Xavi Simons, which he described as unintentional. In contrast, he warned that Van de Ven's tackle carried a serious risk of causing significant injury if repeated.
