Australia Announces 15-Player Squad for 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka
Australia has named a 15-player squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup set to be played in India and Sri Lanka in February 2026.
The squad includes captain Mitchell Marsh along with Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Cameron Green, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Marcus Stoinis, and Adam Zampa.
Tim David is selected despite suffering a hamstring injury during the Big Bash League. Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, included despite back and Achilles/hamstring concerns, are expected to play if fit.
Matthew Kuhnemann is a surprise pick as a left-arm spinner, having played four T20 internationals without taking a wicket. Adam Zampa is named as the frontline spinner. Josh Inglis is the sole specialist wicketkeeper after the omission of Josh Philippe.
Notably, Sean Abbott and Mitch Owen have been left out of the squad, with Abbott fit but not selected. Philippe was also omitted.
Australia's World Cup campaign will begin on February 11 against Ireland in Colombo. A separate squad will be announced for the T20I series against Pakistan that precedes the World Cup.
