In August 2025, Base’s creator-coin issuance via Zora saw a significant surge, with daily mints on Base surpassing those on Solana. However, this growth has led to criticism within the Base developer community. Critics allege that Base's marketing and social support have become narrowly focused on initiatives linked to Zora, sidelining other native projects on the Base platform.
A prominent Base builder, Jacek, expressed concerns that official Base activity ignores launches that are not part of the favored narrative and preferentially supports Zora-linked projects. Many builders have noted a lack of acknowledgment from Base's official channels, which contrasts with the broader support they observe in rival ecosystems.
For example, builders who bridged their projects to Solana reported receiving immediate support from the Solana X account and Helius CEO Mert Mumtaz. This has highlighted tensions between scaling adoption on Base and maintaining positive sentiment among Base app and token developers.
Despite Base processing over 10 million transactions per day according to Basescan data, the waning sentiment risks pushing some projects to explore options on other networks such as Solana or Sui.
