Binance Expands Ether Options to All Users, Enhances Platform Features
On December 22, 2025, Binance opened ether options writing to all users, enabling passive income generation that was previously limited to professional traders. This move addresses the growing demand for advanced derivative tools from both retail and institutional investors and aims to solidify Binance's dominance in the crypto options market.
Users can write ether options by posting margin to collateralize their obligations, with access requiring a mandatory suitability assessment to ensure user readiness. To incentivize liquidity, Binance is offering a 20% discount on taker and maker fees for VIP users across ETH, BTC, BNB, and SOL contracts.
The options platform has been upgraded to provide higher API throughput, lower latency, more strike prices, and advanced WebSocket streams delivering richer market data. Binance's Vice President of Product described these enhancements and the introduction of ETH options writing as enabling faster execution, greater flexibility, and improved market data for traders.
Earlier in 2025, BlackRock’s IBIT options volume surpassed that of Deribit’s native BTC options, highlighting increased competition within the crypto options landscape.
