Binance Suspends Employee for Misuse of Official X Account to Promote Meme Coin
On December 8, 2025, Binance suspended an employee following an internal audit that uncovered the use of an official Binance X account to promote a meme coin the employee helped create. The coin, called Year of the Yellow Fruit, was launched on the BNB Chain via the Four.Meme launchpad. Promotion of the coin occurred within a minute through the Binance Futures X account using similar imagery.
The token saw a rapid rise to nearly a $4 million market cap on launch and later peaked at around $6 million, with trading volumes exceeding $16 million according to DEXScreener. At the time of reporting, the token was trading near a $2 million market cap. Analysis revealed that at least two wallets had profited more than $50,000 each, while eight others made at least $25,000.
Binance has contacted authorities in the jurisdiction of the employee to consider potential legal action as the investigation continues. Additionally, five whistleblowers who reported the misconduct will share a $100,000 reward.
