BlackRock Expands Crypto Strategy with Seven Senior Hires Across US and Asia
BlackRock is expanding its digital asset strategy by hiring seven senior roles across the United States and Singapore. Six of these positions are US-based, focusing on developing the iShares digital asset ETF lineup, including the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which manages about $70 billion in assets under management. These roles will also work on creating new crypto-linked products aimed at institutional and wealth clients.
The Singapore-based role will lead BlackRock's Asia-focused digital asset efforts, shaping the regional strategy, setting multi-year targets, and identifying "first-mover big bets" in the Asian market. This hiring initiative signals BlackRock's intensified commitment to crypto and tokenized or on-chain assets worldwide.
BlackRock has previously launched a spot Bitcoin ETF and experienced record investment flows into its crypto vehicles. The firm has also pursued tokenization initiatives, including a tokenized fund on Ethereum launched in 2024 and investments in infrastructure providers such as Securitize. CEO Larry Fink has publicly advocated for tokenized assets as a means to modernize capital markets by enhancing transparency and settlement efficiency.
