Brazil's Gen Z Drives Crypto Boom as Stablecoins and Tokenized Income Tokens Surge in 2025
In 2025, Brazil's Gen Z, defined as investors under 24 years old, has emerged as the fastest-growing investor cohort on Mercado Bitcoin, with a 56% year-over-year increase. This younger demographic is primarily using stablecoins and tokenized bonds as low-volatility entry points into the crypto market.
Digital fixed-income products, known locally as Renda Fixa Digital (RFD), which consist of tokenized slices of real-world income assets, have seen significant growth. The volume of RFD more than doubled in 2025, reaching 1.8 billion reals (approximately $325 million). These products have yielded on average 132% of Brazil's risk-free CDI benchmark, highlighting their attractive returns compared to traditional benchmarks.
Platforms like Liqi and AmFi have also contributed to the fixed-income crypto landscape by offering similar real-world asset-based products.
Mercado Bitcoin reported a 43% year-over-year increase in overall cryptocurrency transaction volume, with Mondays identified as the busiest days for new investor activity and trading. Distinct investment strategies have emerged based on income levels: middle-income investors allocate up to 12% of their portfolios to stablecoins and 86% to less volatile assets, while lower-income investors tend to allocate over 90% of their portfolios to traditional cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
Recent regulatory changes by the Central Bank of Brazil, which introduced new crypto rules requiring licenses for providers and setting capital requirements, have further boosted interest and confidence in digital assets.
Overall, the Brazilian crypto market is experiencing a shift from primarily speculative trading towards incorporating cryptocurrency as part of a weekly financial routine for investors.
