Camille Rast of Switzerland won the slalom at a World Cup event in Slovenia, narrowly beating Mikaela Shiffrin by 0.14 seconds after posting the fastest times in both runs. Rast, the slalom world champion, earned her fourth career win and third in slalom, ending Shiffrin's six-race World Cup slalom winning streak.

Wendy Holdener finished third, 1.83 seconds behind Rast, with Paula Moltzan taking fourth place and Shiffrin coming in second. Zrinka Ljutić of Croatia failed to finish for the fourth time in six races this season, while Lara Colturi of Albania fell during the first run despite having been on the podium in four of the previous five slalom races this season.

Rast had been leading Shiffrin after the first leg in an event in Austria last week before Shiffrin overtook her to win. Sunday’s victory in Slovenia followed Rast's maiden giant slalom win on the same hill, which she dedicated to victims of a Crans-Montana bar fire near her hometown of Vétroz.

Shiffrin's career World Cup tally now stands at 69 slalom wins and 106 overall wins. The next slalom race is scheduled for January 13 in Flachau, a night race. The last slalom before the Winter Olympics will take place on January 25 in the Czech Republic. Additionally, a downhill and a super-G race are planned in Zauchensee the following weekend. There were no men's World Cup races held that weekend.
