CBS News to Air Exclusive Town Hall with Bari Weiss and Erika Kirk in December
CBS News will air a town hall event moderated by Bari Weiss featuring Erika Kirk on 13 December at 8pm. The discussion will focus on themes including grief, faith, and politics. The event is set to be recorded earlier, on 10 December at 12pm in New York City, according to an unpublicized online form for potential attendees.
Bari Weiss was appointed CBS News editor-in-chief in October with a goal to introduce more balance and diverse political perspectives to the network. Her appointment was made by Paramount Skydance president David Ellison, and some CBS journalists expressed skepticism regarding Weiss's lack of television experience.
Previously, Weiss helped organize a 10 October interview featuring Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice, conducted by Norah O'Donnell, although Weiss herself did not participate in that interview.
Erika Kirk has become a prominent conservative voice following the murder of her husband, Charlie Kirk, on 10 September. She notably spoke at the New York Times DealBook summit recently.
The online form for event attendees queries whether individuals identify as conservative, are grieving, whether they are evangelical Christians, and which religious figures they admire.
A CBS News spokesperson declined to comment on the event. The Guardian described the town hall as exclusive and noted that CBS News had not publicly announced it at the time.
