Civil Service Pension Scheme Faces Criticism Over Delayed Payments and Poor Service
A reader who retired five months ago is owed £21,300 in backdated pension payments which had been delayed by the Civil Service Pension Scheme (MyCSP). The reader's complaints to MyCSP have not received a response.
The Pensions Ombudsman has requested evidence confirming that MyCSP did not respond and has asked the reader how best to provide this.
In June, the National Audit Office criticised MyCSP for service failures including delayed pension valuations and payments amid rising complaints about the scheme.
Capita recently took over the MyCSP administration contract this month. The Cabinet Office stated it is awaiting information from the employer to progress the matter, while the employer claims the required information had been provided weeks ago.
MyCSP stated it delivers high standards of service but did not comment specifically on the reader's experience. Notably, the backdated pension payment of £21,300 was made six days after the Guardian's inquiry.
