Cloudflare Outage Disrupts LinkedIn, Zoom and Other Sites on 5 December 2025
On 5 December 2025, a Cloudflare outage affected LinkedIn, Zoom, Downdetector and other sites, lasting about 30 minutes and resolved around 9:00 GMT. The outage was not an attack but followed Cloudflare adjusting its firewall to protect against a disclosed software vulnerability. Earlier the same day, a separate API issue had been reported.
Approximately 28% of Cloudflare traffic was affected during the outage, with Downdetector logging more than 4,500 outage reports. This incident marked Cloudflare's second outage in less than a month. The previous mid-November outage was larger, impacting platforms like X, OpenAI, Spotify, and League of Legends. That outage was caused by a misbehaving threat-traffic configuration file that grew too large. Following that event, Cloudflare announced it would implement changes to prevent similar single update incidents.
