Coinbase and Chainlink Launch Base-Solana Bridge to Connect Blockchain Ecosystems
The Base-Solana bridge has gone live on mainnet, connecting Coinbase's Base layer-2 blockchain with the Solana blockchain to enable seamless asset transfers between these ecosystems.
This new bridge allows decentralized applications (dapps) based on Base to interact directly with Solana-based tokens, including SOL and other SPL assets, facilitating trading within the Base environment without the need to leave it.
The bridge's security is provided by Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) in partnership with Coinbase, ensuring cross-chain asset transfer security.
The bridge is open-source and available on GitHub, enabling developers to integrate cross-chain support more easily. This step paves the way for interconnected blockchains and continuous capital markets, with more blockchain networks expected to be linked in the future.
Early adopter applications utilizing the bridge include Zora, Aerodrome, Virtuals, Flaunch, and Relay.
Solana is currently the first blockchain connected through this bridge, with plans to expand the cross-chain network by linking additional chains as it grows.
