Coinbase Unveils Comprehensive Platform to Become an 'Everything Exchange'
Coinbase has announced a broad range of new products and services aimed at transforming itself into an "everything exchange" that integrates traditional finance, crypto-native tools, and on-chain infrastructure into a single platform.
The company has launched commission-free US stock and ETF trading, enabling users to trade equities alongside cryptocurrencies using USD or USDC. Additionally, prediction markets through Kalshi are now available, allowing trading on real-world outcomes such as elections, sports, and economic data directly within Coinbase.
Equity futures and perpetuals trading can also be accessed within the Coinbase app, expanding trading options for users. Through Jupiter, Coinbase has enabled Solana decentralized exchange (DEX) trading, allowing direct swaps of SOL tokens on its platform.
New borrowing options have also been introduced, letting users borrow against their BTC and ETH holdings. Coinbase Token Sales and Coinbase Tokenize are designed to support tokenized assets, including tokenized stocks.
The Base App has been globally launched, extending Coinbase’s on-chain "everything app" services to over 140 countries. Meanwhile, Coinbase Business has expanded its payments, invoicing, and USDC-based tools to better serve business customers.
Further developments include expanded APIs for stablecoins and payments featuring embedded wallets and branded stablecoins. Coinbase Advisor, an AI-powered assistant, provides portfolio navigation support to users.
These initiatives position Coinbase to compete as a broad financial-services platform extending beyond cryptocurrency. CEO Brian Armstrong emphasized the company's goal to become the number one financial services app available.
