Conservative Groups Declare 2025 a Tipping Point in Climate Activism Amid Trump's Energy Agenda
Five conservative energy and climate groups released a report titled "2025: Climate Hysteria’s Surprising Tipping Point," identifying 10 reasons why climate activism faltered in 2025. The signatories include the American Energy Institute, Energy & Environment Legal Institute, Truth in Energy & Climate, the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), and The Heartland Institute. The report was shared exclusively with Fox News Digital.
The report frames 2025 as a decisive tipping point shifting national focus from climate activism to energy production and economic realism, driven largely by President Donald Trump's energy-dominance agenda. Trump returned to the White House in January 2025 and promptly signed executive orders and legislation to scale back green energy efforts. Notably, on his first day, he issued an executive order launching an initiative to unleash American energy production and, on July 4, 2025, signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which rolled back clean-energy credits.
While net-zero pledges remain widespread, the report asserts they are not feasible. It references United Nations data as of June 2024 indicating that 107 countries, representing about 82% of global emissions, had adopted net-zero commitments. The report also cites media coverage from The New York Times, Reuters, The Washington Post, The Guardian, and The Wall Street Journal to illustrate a shift in rhetoric on climate policy.
Fox News reached out to New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Bill Gates for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
