Crypto Markets Suffer Broad Declines with Ethereum Near $2,800 Amid Sector Selloffs
Over the past 24 hours, cryptocurrency markets experienced significant declines, notably in Layer-2 tokens. Ethereum decreased by 4.27% to approximately $2,800, while Bitcoin fell 1.71% to below $87,000.
Tokens such as Zora, Linea, and Movement saw double-digit losses, dropping 10.39%, 10.41%, and 13.61%, respectively. Sector data from SoSoValue indicated that drops ranged from 2% to 7%, with Layer-2 names specifically down 6.71%.
Leading sector index declines included ssiAI at -8.39%, ssiDePIN at -7.14%, and ssiLayer2 at -7.06%. Other sectors such as PayFi, DeFi, Meme tokens, and Layer-1 also experienced declines of 3.27%, 5.65%, 4.65%, and 3.78% respectively.
