Dan Bongino to Return to Conservative Media Following FBI Stint
Dan Bongino, former Fox News personality, left the conservative media sphere earlier this year to serve as deputy director of the FBI under Kash Patel after being recruited from media. His show, The Dan Bongino Show, ended when he joined the FBI but Bongino has announced plans to depart the bureau next month to return to media.
Donald Trump praised Bongino's work and signaled his return to the show. Vince Coglianese confirmed Bongino will resume his 12-3pm radio slot with a companion podcast produced by Silverloch Productions. Analysts predict Bongino could become a leading voice in conservative podcasting again, bolstered by his inside-government experience.
The move follows a pattern of revolving door personnel between conservative media and the Trump administration, with figures like Sebastian Gorka noted as examples. Michael Harrison criticized Bongino's FBI appointment as a poor choice but expected him to return stronger. Laura Ingraham observed Bongino's strong connection to his media career and anticipated his return after a nine-month FBI stint.
Bongino's FBI tenure drew backlash from conservatives over statements endorsing the view that Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide. He also acknowledged past paid opinions during an appearance on Hannity. Despite ties to Hannity, it is considered unlikely Bongino will return to Fox News.
