Diogo Jota’s Sons to Join Liverpool Mascots at Anfield for Premier League Match Against Wolves
Diogo Jota’s two sons, Dinis and Duarte, will join the Liverpool mascots at Anfield for the Premier League match against Wolves on Saturday. This game marks the first Liverpool–Wolves meeting since Jota’s death in July in northwestern Spain at the age of 28.
Jota had a significant connection with both clubs; he played for Wolves on loan in 2017, moved permanently in 2018, and subsequently signed a five-year deal with Liverpool in 2020, where he won the league title earlier in the year. His wife, Rute Cardoso, and their sons Dinis and Duarte attended both Liverpool and Wolves’ Premier League home openers in August.
In honor of Jota, Liverpool permanently retired his shirt number, No. 20, following his passing. A mural of Jota outside Anfield has been featured in media coverage surrounding the match.
