DOJ Filings Reveal Jes Staley and Larry Summers Named Executors in Jeffrey Epstein's Estate Wills
Department of Justice filings have revealed that Jes Staley and Larry Summers were named as executors or successor executors in Jeffrey Epstein's estate wills prior to his death. Documents show that in a 2012 will, Staley was listed as a successor executor, while the 2013 and 2014 versions named him as a full executor. The 2014 will also listed Summers as a successor executor. However, neither Staley nor Summers were named executors in Epstein's final will dated 2019.
Jeffrey Epstein died in July 2019 in prison while awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges. Staley was later banned from the UK banking sector in 2023 after downplaying his relationship with Epstein. He initially stated he declined to be a trustee and subsequently said he refused to serve as an executor. Summers maintained contact with Epstein into 2019 and stepped down from his teaching position at Harvard University in November 2019, several months after Epstein's arrest in July that year.
The new filings have raised questions concerning the nature and depth of Staley and Summers' connections to Epstein. Staley had previously resigned as CEO of Barclays in 2021 and faced regulatory sanctions that resulted in his UK banking ban. These revelations contribute to ongoing scrutiny over Epstein's network and associates.
