The Department of Justice (DoJ) has released its largest tranche of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, comprising over 11,000 documents in compliance with a Friday deadline under a new law mandating public disclosure of investigative files.

The new legislation restricts redactions primarily to protecting victims or ongoing investigations, but the DoJ faces criticism from across the political spectrum regarding the extent of redactions in the release.

Notably, former President Donald Trump's name appears extensively in the batch. Many references include media clippings; however, one email alleges that Trump traveled on Epstein's private jet. The DoJ cautions that some files contain untrue and sensational claims about Trump.

FBI flight records corroborate that Trump flew on Epstein’s private jet at least eight times between 1993 and 1996. Ghislaine Maxwell was a passenger on at least four of these flights. Other notable passengers included Marla Maples, Tiffany Trump, and Eric Trump.

Among the documents is an email exchange involving Maxwell and a party labeled “The Invisible Man,” which mentions Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family. Additionally, a note regarding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor discusses his loss of the Duke of York title in October, allegedly due to Epstein links; he denies any wrongdoing.

The files reference ten potential co-conspirators and reveal six subpoenas served across various locations—three in Florida, one in Boston, one in New York City, and one in Connecticut. Four more subpoenas remain pending, including one targeting a wealthy Ohio businessman. Maxwell and Les Wexner appear in unredacted form, with implications involving Wexner’s team.

Included in the release is a forged letter addressed to Larry Nassar. The DoJ confirms its inauthenticity based on handwriting discrepancies, incorrect jail and address details, and an improper return address. The envelope bears a postmark of August 13, 2019, well after Epstein’s death. FBI analysis has been requested.

A fake video purporting to show Epstein in a prison cell is also part of the release. The video first appeared on YouTube in October 2020 and was created using 3D graphics. Official records, including a 2023 Bureau of Prisons report, indicate no video footage exists from inside Epstein’s cell on the date of his death in 2019.
