DoJ Releases Thousands of Epstein-Maxwell Records Revealing Abuse Details
The Department of Justice has released thousands of records related to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, including grand jury transcripts from Maxwell's Manhattan case. These documents detail the "grooming" tactics used by Maxwell, who was portrayed as a cool, older sister figure who normalized abuse and told victims that such behavior was typical of adults.
Victims recalled Maxwell being topless by Epstein’s pool and directing other girls during sexual encounters. Testimonies indicate that Epstein's abuse escalated over time, often with Maxwell present and involved in sexual activity, including group encounters.
Annie Farmer’s trial testimony corroborates other accounts, describing how Maxwell gave her a nude massage at Epstein’s New Mexico ranch when she was 16 and instructed her on how to perform massages. Another account describes a theater outing during which Maxwell maintained a light mood while Epstein touched a victim’s leg and held her hand within Maxwell’s view. Another victim recounted conversations with Maxwell about home life and prior abuse, and recalled receiving Victoria’s Secret underwear packages bearing Maxwell and Epstein’s names.
Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to Florida prostitution charges. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence and was moved to a minimum-security camp during the Trump administration.
Ian Maxwell emphasized that grand jury transcripts are preliminary, one-sided, and not proof of guilt. Additionally, Carolyn, a third Maxwell trial witness, passed away in May 2023.
