Dom Taylor Suspended from World Darts Championship Following Failed Drugs Test
Dom Taylor has been suspended from the 2025 World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace after an adverse analytical finding from a drugs test conducted on 14 December, one day before the tournament began. The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA), the governing body for the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), stated that Taylor's suspension is immediate and the case will proceed under their Anti-Doping Rules.
This marks Taylor's second drugs-test failure. He previously received a one-month ban in January following a positive test from November of the previous year. That earlier ban occurred during the Players Championship Finals and caused him to miss the World Championship. Although the two-year sanction was reduced, it was noted that the substance involved was not performance-enhancing.
As a result of Taylor's suspension, his scheduled opponent Jonny Clayton advances automatically to the third round of the tournament.
In other matches at the World Darts Championship, Josh Rock defeated Gemma Hayter 3-1, Lenny Gates defeated Mickey Mansell 3-2, Ryan Meikle defeated Jesus Salate 3-0, and Kevin Doets defeated Matthew Dennant 3-1.
