El Salvador Partners with Elon Musk's xAI to Launch AI-Powered National Education System
El Salvador has partnered with Elon Musk's company xAI to introduce the world's first national AI-powered public education system using the Grok chatbot. This initiative will deploy the Grok digital tutor to over 5,000 public schools across the country over the next two years, benefiting more than 1 million students and thousands of teachers.
The AI system is designed to personalize education by adapting to each student's learning pace and skill level, while aligning with the national curriculum to ensure consistent instruction in both urban and rural areas. The project also aims to develop new AI datasets, frameworks, and methods specifically tailored for educational environments with a focus on local context, safety, and human-centered impact.
Led by President Nayib Bukele, whose administration recently increased the national bitcoin treasury to 7,500 BTC, the initiative positions El Salvador as a pioneer in AI-driven education, aiming to build the future of education rather than waiting for it. Musk's xAI describes Grok as a digital tutor that personalizes learning and supports the co-development of responsible AI methodologies for classrooms worldwide.
