A power supply problem in the Channel Tunnel has caused major disruptions, with a Le Shuttle train failure also contributing to the situation. All Eurostar trains to and from London have been suspended or cancelled, and passengers are advised to postpone their journeys and not to travel without a ticket.

National Rail has warned of severe delays and cancellations and reinforced guidance to postpone travel, urging that stations should not become crowded. At Calais, ground disruptions are causing the closure of border control, leading to long queues and vehicles waiting, affecting several hundred travelers. Similarly, Folkestone is experiencing long queues due to delayed and cancelled Eurostar services.

Eurostar does not expect the disruption to last until tomorrow and has indicated that the issues are unlikely to affect travel on New Year's Eve. Customers impacted by the cancellations have several options: they can exchange tickets for free within the same travel class to a different date or time, cancel for an e-voucher valid for 12 months, or cancel for a refund of the ticket value which is processed within 28 days. Customers have up to three months to claim their preferred option.
