Explosion at Swiss Ski Resort Bar in Crans-Montana Results in Several Fatalities and Injuries
An explosion occurred at Le Constellation Bar and Lounge in Crans-Montana, Valais, in the basement of the building around 1:30 am local time on 1 January 2026.
More than 100 people were inside the bar at the time of the blast, prompting a rapid emergency response with numerous ambulances and several helicopters deployed.
Valais Cantonal Police reported several fatalities and several injured as a result of the explosion and established a helpline for affected families.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown; however, a report by Blick suggested that pyrotechnics used during a concert might be a possible cause, though this remains unverified.
The incident is under investigation with emergency services actively responding, and further updates are anticipated.
