Family Pays Tribute to 13-Year-Old Madison Richardson as Police Investigate Her Death in Manchester
Madison Richardson, aged 13, died in hospital on 24 November after emergency services responded to a welfare concern at a Manchester address. In the days prior to her death, a 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of harassment and subsequently bailed as police investigations continue.
Greater Manchester Police are continuing to investigate the full circumstances surrounding Madison’s death, including whether the actions of others contributed to the tragedy. Detectives, led by DI Andrew Day, described the death as heartbreaking for friends and family and confirmed the inquiry aims to find answers.
On Christmas Eve, Madison's parents paid tribute to their daughter, describing her as bubbly and loving with a talent for art, saying she lit up every room she entered. They requested that the mental health charity YoungMinds be mentioned in connection with her memory.
James Docherty, executive headteacher of Teenage Kicks school in Failsworth, where Madison was a pupil, said she was a remarkable, creatively gifted student who brightened the lives of both pupils and staff alike.
