FIFA Releases 2026 World Cup Ticket Prices Amid Concerns Over Cost for England Fans
FIFA has revealed the ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup, setting the minimum package for knockout-stage tickets via the 8% national allocation at around £5,000. This allocation reserves 8% of tickets at each stadium for supporters within each country's membership scheme to help boost atmosphere across finals and qualifying matches.
The most affordable tickets are category 3 for group matches, priced at approximately £500. However, the knockout-ticket package, if purchased in advance, can total about £4,500, pushing the full package cost to roughly £5,000. Higher price bands include category 2 tickets costing up to £8,600 and category 1 tickets reaching up to £12,400.
Refunds will be available if a team is eliminated, to be paid within 60 calendar days after the event, minus a $10 administrative fee. Despite his extensive attendance at 14 major tournaments, an England fan expressed reluctance to spend about £5,000 on tickets given the pricing levels.
The report encourages the Football Association to lobby FIFA for reconsideration of these pricing structures and notes potential coordination with other federations, mentioning Spain and Portugal as co-hosts for the 2030 tournament.
