Fired Michigan Football Coach Sherrone Moore Faces Stalking and Home Invasion Charges
Sherrone Moore, the recently fired head football coach for the Michigan Wolverines, was arraigned on December 12, 2025, in Washtenaw County 14A-1 District Court in Ann Arbor. He faces felony home invasion in the third degree and two misdemeanor charges—stalking and breaking and entering without the owner’s permission—both misdemeanors connected to a domestic relationship.
Prosecutors revealed that Moore had an intimate relationship with a Michigan staff member for several years. After the staffer ended the relationship on the preceding Monday, Moore allegedly contacted her by phone and text messages. The staffer cooperated with the university’s investigation, which led to Moore's dismissal days earlier over the inappropriate relationship.
According to prosecutors, Moore forcibly entered the staffer’s home, brandishing a butter knife and kitchen scissors, and made self-harm threats while claiming the staffer was responsible for his life. In court, Moore appeared via video, and bond was set at $25,000 with conditions including ongoing mental health treatment, GPS monitoring, no contact with the victim, and staying within Michigan. His next court date is scheduled for January 22, 2026, in Washtenaw County.
University Athletic Director Warde Manuel stated there was credible evidence of the inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Additionally, interim President Domenico Grasso sent a campus-wide email condemning the breach of trust and encouraging students to come forward with relevant information.
