Former Michigan Coach Sherrone Moore Faces Charges Following Inappropriate Relationship and Home Invasion Incident
Audio dispatch obtained by the Detroit News reveals that Sherrone Moore's wife called 911 after Moore was fired by the University of Michigan for an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Prosecutors state that Moore had a yearslong intimate relationship with a university staffer, which ended on the morning of his firing.
Following his termination, Moore allegedly forced entry into the staffer's residence armed with butter knives and kitchen scissors, threatening self-harm. During the incident, he reportedly told the staffer that his blood was on her hands and accused her of ruining his life.
Moore was arraigned on home-invasion and stalking charges in Washtenaw County 14A-1 District Court. Prior to being jailed, he underwent a mental health evaluation. Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel confirmed there was credible evidence supporting the existence of an inappropriate relationship.
Bond was set at $25,000 with conditions including ongoing mental health treatment, GPS monitoring, no contact with the victim, and remaining in Michigan. Moore's next court date is scheduled for January 22, 2026.
