Gary Anderson and Ryan Searle Reach World Darts Semi-Finals
Gary Anderson reached the World Championship semi-finals for the first time in four years after beating Justin Hood 5-2 in the quarter-finals at Alexandra Palace. The 55-year-old Scot is two wins away from securing his third PDC world title and would become the oldest player to lift the trophy. Earlier, he defeated Michael van Gerwen to reach the quarter-finals and will face either Luke Humphries or Gian van Veen in Friday's semi-final.
Justin Hood, 32, made it to the last eight in his debut at Ally Pally, earning £100,000 in prize money.
Ryan Searle also progressed to the semi-finals after defeating Jonny Clayton 5-2 in the quarter-finals. The 38-year-old player has Kjer’s optic neuropathy, a hereditary eye condition causing vision impairment that affects his family. Searle sometimes cannot see where his darts land during matches and uses contact lenses to reduce blurriness. He aims to raise awareness about the condition and seek a cure.
