George Conway Launches Congressional Bid as Democrat in Manhattan's 12th District
George Conway has filed to run as a Democrat for New York's 12th Congressional District, a Manhattan-based seat considered safely Democratic. The current representative, Jerry Nadler, who has served since 1992, announced he will be stepping down in September 2025.
Conway registered a principal campaign committee in New York City and launched a campaign website, GeorgeConwayForCongress.com, which was not active as of Monday afternoon. The Democratic primary in NY-12 is crowded, with at least 12 candidates competing, including Jack Schlossberg, grandson of John F. Kennedy, activist Cameron Kasky, attorney Micah Lasher, and Assemblymember Alex Bores. Other candidates who have filed include Jami Floyd and Erik Bottcher.
George Conway is known for his background as a conservative lawyer and co-founder of the Lincoln Project, as well as a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump. He notably worked on the Paula Jones case against Bill Clinton. Conway was married to Kellyanne Conway, a former Trump White House adviser; the couple announced their divorce in March 2023.
