Giants Waive Kicker Younghoe Koo After Struggles and Viral Incident
The New York Giants have waived kicker Younghoe Koo after a five-game stint during the 2025 season. Koo, a one-time Pro Bowler, went 4-of-6 on field goals before being released. His departure comes after he missed two field goals in the Giants’ 29-21 loss to the Washington Commanders on December 14, 2025.
Earlier in the season, Koo experienced an inexplicable viral moment when his foot got caught in the turf against the New England Patriots, resulting in a botched field goal attempt and turnover on downs. This incident added to the challenges he faced throughout the season.
The Giants have used three kickers so far in 2025: Younghoe Koo, Graham Gano, and Jude McAtamney. Punting duties have been handled by Jamie Gillan and Cameron Johnston.
The Giants currently hold a 2-12 record with three games remaining. Offensively, they rank 12th in yards gained and 22nd in points scored. Defensively, the team has struggled, ranking 29th in points allowed and last (30th) in yards allowed.
