Hasan Piker, 34, is a prominent Twitch streamer with approximately 3 million subscribers and has emerged as a leading voice for the US left. He began his career on The Young Turks before launching his solo Twitch channel in 2018, where he now streams seven to eight hours daily from Los Angeles.
Born in the United States and raised in New Jersey and Istanbul by Turkish immigrant parents, Piker studied political science and communication at Rutgers University. He aligns himself with progressive politicians such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Mahmoud Mamdani, advocating a left-flank approach and warning Democrats against undermining democracy.
Piker has faced multiple controversies, including four suspensions from Twitch. Notably, in 2019 he made a remark that America deserved the 9/11 attacks, for which he later apologized.
