Health Secretary Condemns Labour Donor Dale Vince's Remarks Following Hanukkah Attack
Health Secretary Wes Streeting condemned remarks made by Labour donor Dale Vince after the Hanukkah attack.
Vince had claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "wants antisemitism to be a thing" but later said he did not intend to excuse or legitimise terrorism, clarifying that his comments were in reference to Netanyahu's actions.
Conservative politicians described Vince's remarks as morally repugnant and urged the Labour Party to return his donations.
Streeting refrained from stating whether Labour should accept future donations from Vince.
Dale Vince has donated more than £5.7 million to Labour since 2020, mainly through his company Ecotricity, which has not donated since last year's general election but did contribute £15,000 to Lucy Powell's deputy leadership campaign in the autumn.
Vince has also previously donated to the Green Party, Liberal Democrats, and Just Stop Oil.
Health Minister Stephen Kinnock called on Vince to apologise and indicated that Labour would review future donations in light of Vince's response.
This discussion takes place against the backdrop of leadership decisions within the Labour Party under Keir Starmer and Hollie Ridley.
