House Oversight Committee to Hold Hearing on Minnesota Fraud Scandal
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer announced a hearing set for January 7 to evaluate a massive fraud scandal in Minnesota and examine the responsibility of state leadership. The hearing will feature testimony from Rep. Kristin Robbins, Rep. Walter Hudson, and Rep. Marion Rarick, all members of the Minnesota House Republican caucus.
Comer accused Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison of either being asleep at the wheel or complicit in large-scale fraud involving taxpayer dollars within Minnesota's social services. Investigators estimate that the state may have lost as much as $9 billion due to abuses in government assistance programs, including fraud related to daycare centers, medical providers, and food assistance programs.
The committee's investigation is distinct from ongoing FBI probes and will include transcribed interviews with Minnesota state officials. It aims to expose failures, identify solutions, and hold responsible parties accountable for fraud in Minnesota's social services programs. It remains unclear whether Governor Walz or Attorney General Ellison will attend the hearing; the Walz administration did not respond to Fox News' request for comment.
