ICE Detainee Count Hits Record High Exceeding 68,400 as of Mid-December 2025
As of 14 December 2025, the number of people in ICE detention has reached a new record high, exceeding 68,400. This surpasses the previous high set at the start of December. Since the beginning of the administration, over 328,000 individuals have been arrested by ICE and nearly 327,000 have been deported.
Despite the administration's focus on pursuing the most dangerous offenders, immigrants with no criminal record remain the largest group held in detention. It is important to note that undocumented status is considered a civil matter rather than a criminal one. ICE releases data on detainee numbers every two weeks.
In response to enforcement actions, local residents have been organizing efforts to block raids and distribute groceries to affected communities.
