Injury Concerns and Squad Updates Ahead of Manchester United's Matches Against Wolves and Leeds
Bruno Fernandes sustained a hamstring injury on 21 December and is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks. Despite his injury, Fernandes remains influential by observing training sessions and offering guidance from the sidelines. Ruben Amorim praised Fernandes as a constant leader and jokingly suggested that Fernandes might even want to take over as Manchester United’s head coach.
Fernandes is not expected to feature in the upcoming match against Wolves and is concentrating on his training while unavailable. Mason Mount’s participation in the Wolves fixture remains uncertain, and several other players including Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Matthijs de Ligt, and Harry Maguire are also not expected to be ready. In total, eight players are unavailable for the Wolves game due to injuries or commitments with the Africa Cup of Nations, such as Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo, and Bryan Mbeumo.
Kobbie Mainoo is anticipated to resume on-pitch training soon, although the statuses of De Ligt and Maguire remain unclear. Manchester United currently sit fifth in the league with 29 points, a season-high, following their recent victory over Newcastle. Wolves have only accumulated two points so far. Manchester United will host Wolves on Tuesday with an 8:15 pm kickoff and will then travel to Leeds for a match on Sunday.
