Jacksonville Jaguars Extend Winning Streak to Six with Victory Over Denver Broncos
The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Denver Broncos 34-20, extending their winning streak to six games and improving their record to 11-4. This victory boosts their prospects for the AFC title and a No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
The Jaguars' turnaround followed a 5-4 start just seven weeks prior, during which they lost four of five games. Key to this resurgence was the acquisition of Jakobi Meyers and a crucial bye week, which helped recalibrate the offense under first-year head coach Liam Coen.
Meyers' addition brought increased reliability to the team’s offense and facilitated a shift to a power-run, pass-catching strategy for other players. Since this change, the Jaguars’ offense ranks 8th in Expected Points Added (EPA) per play and 5th in dropback success rate.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has demonstrated increased control and efficiency, recording 13 touchdown passes and no turnovers in his last four games. In the game against Denver, Lawrence completed 23 of 36 passes for 279 yards with three passing touchdowns and added one rushing touchdown.
The Jaguars' defense has focused on creating turnovers, while the offense employs a run-centric blocking scheme that features tight end Brenton Strange. Although there was initial friction between Coen’s system and Lawrence’s style of play, this has since eased.
In the Broncos game, two third-quarter penalties—roughing the passer and pass interference—shifted field position. Lawrence capitalized by scoring while holding a 24-17 lead, and Jacksonville maintained control afterward, aided by an interception from Jarrian Jones that sealed the win.
With this victory, the Jaguars stand at 11-4 with two remaining games against the Colts and Titans, keeping alive the possibility of hosting or influencing the AFC playoff path.
