Jake Paul has been dropped from the WBA cruiserweight top 15 rankings following a sixth-round knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Joshua dominated the bout with four knockdowns before stopping Paul, who suffered a broken jaw in two places requiring surgery.
Paul had entered the WBA cruiserweight rankings at No 14 in July after defeating Julio César Chávez Jr by unanimous decision in Anaheim. He was ranked No 15 entering the Joshua fight, which took place at heavyweight and did not impact his cruiserweight ranking. This loss ends Paul's brief stint in the WBA top 15 and marks his first professional defeat since a 2023 split decision loss to Tommy Fury.
Joshua returned to the ring after his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September, stating his intention was to pin Paul down and inflict damage. Following the Miami bout, Paul's professional record stands at 12 wins and 2 losses, with 7 knockouts.
The fight’s Netflix broadcast reportedly attracted approximately 33 million global viewers.
