Jennifer Garner to Star in Netflix's Crypto-Centered Comedy 'One Attempt Remaining'
Netflix announced on December 11, 2025, that Jennifer Garner will star in 'One Attempt Remaining,' a comedy directed by Kay Cannon and centered around cryptocurrency.
The plot follows an ex-couple racing to recover the password to a crypto wallet containing millions of dollars, with only three days left before the wallet expires. The story retraces the events of a wild cruise night.
Jennifer Garner, known for her role in Alias and previous Netflix projects, will also executive-produce the film alongside Shawn Levy and Dan Levine of 21 Laps and Nicole King of Linden Productions. The release date has not been announced.
The film’s premise reflects real-world incidents of crypto losses due to forgotten passwords and private keys, such as Stefan Thomas, who lost access to 7,002 BTC valued around $645 million, and James Howells, who lost 8,000 BTC worth approximately $738 million. Howells' story has been optioned for a screen adaptation by a U.S. production company.
The report also mentions Netflix's Crypto Week and the case of Carl Rinsch, who was found guilty of wire fraud, money laundering, and possessing illicitly obtained property related to misappropriated funds used for purchasing cryptocurrency and luxury items. His sentencing is scheduled for April 17, 2026.
