Jes Staley and Larry Summers Named in Earlier Versions of Jeffrey Epstein's Will, Files Reveal
Documents filed by the US Department of Justice reveal that Jes Staley and Larry Summers were named as executors in earlier versions of Jeffrey Epstein's will from 2013 to 2014. In particular, Staley appeared as a successor executor in a 2012 draft, while Summers was named as a successor executor in the 2014 version.
However, neither Summers nor Staley were listed as executors in the 2019 will. Summers has stated that he had no knowledge of being included in the earlier versions and denied any involvement in Epstein's financial affairs. Staley also refused the role, telling a tribunal he declined to serve as executor or trustee.
The UK's Financial Conduct Authority investigated Staley and concluded that his relationship with Epstein exceeded professional boundaries. Staley was banned from the UK banking sector and stepped down as Barclays CEO in 2021, with a ban on him from UK financial services following in 2023.
Summers resigned from a teaching role at Harvard in November 2019 amid scrutiny over his contacts with Epstein, which reportedly continued into 2019. He similarly denied involvement in managing Epstein's estate or financial matters.
These revelations raise questions about the depth of Epstein's relationships with Staley and Summers and their potential involvement with his estate during earlier periods.
