Jim Harbaugh Comments on Sherrone Moore Arrest and Michigan Football Situation
Jim Harbaugh revealed on The Dan Patrick Show that he reached out to Sherrone Moore via text after Moore's arrest, describing the situation as a tragedy. Harbaugh noted he spoke with Moore in early December.
Sherrone Moore was arrested in Washtenaw County facing three charges, including felony home invasion. Bond was set at $25,000 with conditions such as no contact with the alleged victim. Moore entered a not-guilty plea.
Prosecutors allege Moore had an intimate relationship with a Michigan staffer for several years. The staffer ended the relationship on December 8, and Moore reportedly contacted the staffer afterward through phone calls and texts, sparking an investigation.
According to prosecutors, Moore barged into the staffer’s residence, threatened self-harm, and told the staffer his life was ruined by her actions.
Following these events, Moore was fired from his head coaching position. Interim head coach Biff Poggi stated he has started helping players process the situation and noted he previously filled in for Moore during a suspension related to NCAA violations.
Harbaugh said he is not involved in Michigan’s search for a new head coach and remains focused on his Chargers' playoff push, while expressing his affection for both Michigan and the Chargers.
The Michigan Wolverines are scheduled to face Texas in the Citrus Bowl on December 31. Poggi mentioned that players can decide whether they want to participate in the game.
