John Robertson dies aged 72; Boxing Day football highlights and Africa Cup of Nations 2025 updates
John Robertson, the Nottingham Forest and Scotland winger famed for his role in the Clough-era success and the 1981 European Cup-winning Forest side, has died peacefully aged 72.
On Boxing Day Championship football, Derby County lead Birmingham City 1-0 thanks to a header from Patrick Agemang. Birmingham City's Joe Ward was sent off in the 27th minute after receiving a second booking for tripping Jonathan Roberts. In the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco, Group B's Angola edged Zimbabwe 1-0, while Egypt v South Africa is scheduled for a 3pm GMT kickoff. In Group A, Zambia will face Comoros at 5.30pm, followed by Morocco v Mali at 8pm.
Separately, the Premier League and EFL have announced plans to hold talks early next year about potentially ending the traditional 3pm Saturday blackout, which would allow live broadcasting of 3pm matches weekly for the first time.
